Chael Sonnen put in quite a performance against Anderson Silva, but despite landing 320 total strikes, he still came up second-best. Sonnen also now holds the #2 spot for most total strikes landed in a single UFC match. That record belongs to Royce Gracie, who managed 355 total strikes landed in his 36-minute match against Ken Shamrock at UFC 5. That fight ended in a draw, meaning that neither of the fighters with the most strikes landed in a fight won their match.
Of course, these records deal with total strikes, which include a lot of very small shots in the clinch and on the ground. As for Significant Strikes, the prestigious 100 Strike Club admitted a new member at UFC 117: Junior dos Santos. His 130 Significant Strikes Landed against Roy Nelson is now good for fourth place all-time.
